Dr Latha Satish
Dr. Latha Satish is a long-time student of veteran yoga master Sri TKV Desikachar. Her initial training as a child was under Yogacharya Shri BKS Iyengar and she also has the distinction of studying under Sri TKV Desikachar for over 30 years and is a faithful torchbearer of his teaching tradition.
Dr. Latha Satish had been the Managing Trustee of the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram from 2009 to 2014 and is also a Senior Consultant Therapist and mentor to all other teachers and teacher-trainees.She holds a Ph.D in Psychology, and has worked at the Madras University for over 18 years as a UGCResearch Scientist. She is a recognized Ph.D guide at Madras University since 1994 and has guided 8candidates in their doctoral dissertations, while co-guiding several more. She has over fifty research articles published in various journals of repute. Having expertise in both Yoga and Psychology and being a research expert she undertook many research projects involving Yoga Therapy at KYM,important one being the Yoga Intervention for Persons with Epilepsy, a three year project undertaken by Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram under the aegis of the CCRYN in which she designed the therapeutic intervention as a lead researcher. This was later published as Research Paper at CCRYN. Sheis also currently heading all Yoga Therapy Research activities at KYM and has initiated research studies on Yoga Intervention for Management of Type II Diabetes, Effect of Chanting on CognitiveFunctions of Children and so on. She is also co-guiding an ongoing study on Yoga and Depression at the KYM.
